The brave leader of Pängels, Jenny Sjollema, is taking fundraising to new heights by completing a Wing Walk for charity in Essex to support local mental health services.
On September 12th Jenny, who founded Pängels, to provide virtual assistants and personal assistants, 14 years ago, will be strapped to the wing of a flying aeroplane at Headcorn Aerodrome, Kent in an extraordinary act of bravery to raise vital funds for Mid and North East Essex Mind.
Supporting Mental Health in Essex
This powerful fundraising challenge supports Mid and North East Essex Mind, a local charity providing advice, support and essential services to people experiencing mental health problems across the region.
Jenny has organised a Charity Fundraiser Event for Mind and to raise awareness of her Wing Walk on Friday April 10th at 10am to 1pm at St George’s Church, Heybridge Basin, Essex. There will be refreshments, cake, a raffle, lucky squares and much more.
Her motivation for doing this fundraising for Mind is deeply personal.
She said, “My neighbour and friend committed suicide last year, and one of the charities supported at his funeral was Mind. After meeting Mind’s Senior Fundraiser, Lisa Chenery, it felt right to do something meaningful to support their work.”
By taking on this challenge, Jenny hopes to raise both funds and awareness for mental health support in Essex, helping ensure no one faces mental health difficulties alone.
No Stranger to Charity Challenges
Although a Wing Walk is not for the faint‑hearted, Jenny is no stranger to daring fundraising challenges. She has previously completed a parachute jump and a bungee jump to raise money for charity.
She said, “Some people would be scared, but it’s much easier to push yourself when you’re doing it for a good cause, and I’ll be very securely strapped to the plane!”
Giving Back to the Community
Outside of Pängels, Jenny supports small and medium‑sized businesses with diary and email management, meeting minutes, travel arrangements, invoicing, proofreading, events, social media and marketing. She also serves her local community as a Parish Councillor and as Secretary of Maldon Carnival.
Lisa Chenery from Mid and North East Essex Mind said “Well done Jenny for braving the Wing Walk to support Mid and North East Essex Mind and the people in our community who need mental health support. Good luck with your fundraiser.”
